I had to stay home from school today because I felt so sick. I hope I feel better tomorrow because I don't want to miss any more school. Mom said I should get plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids. --- Page 11 --- JANUARY 7 Dear Diary, Yesterday I went down to the store with Diane to get from a plant, & I got some cookies, & Caroline had an accident. My distance to the emergency. And a while some of our [?] making plans, since we need to do [?]. I asked about his fear and it was decided me & Quest only. He was [?] out & was going to ask us to play pool but the kids were after school One pm going to go over to Mom - then he over there. Matt is going over there, & I will! We had so much fun that day. I remember watching them play in the water and thinking how happy they looked. I got a letter from [unclear?] today. She said she is doing well and [unclear?] at school. I miss her so much. I hope I can visit her soon. The weather has been so cold lately. I can't wait for spring to come. I want to go outside and play in the garden again. We fell asleep today. Janette was in Rerie, & I just wrote letters all afternoon, then I went upstairs & started my story. Jim & Colleen came over, & we went downtown to get the key to their new house. She guy wouldn't find it, so, we just drove over there. Well - I'm tired - 10:16 [unclear?] Joyce --- Page 27 --- Mon. JANUARY 23 Dear Diary, I got up at 7:30 this morning so I missed the bus. No one rode the bus, actually. Mom took me to school. After school, we were playing 4 square, & I reached in my pocket & pulled out a dollar bill - gee. I put it back in, & then the bell rang so I ran to the bus. ~~Then~~ I forgot I left it at school. I by [?] on Math, bike & rode over there. It was still there where I to be 2 --- Page 28 --- JANUARY 24 Tue. / 9-62 Dear Diary, Today in class I read my story. I felt so dumb! I got up at 9, & it took me ½ hour to get dressed. I combed my hair in 5 min. I made the bus luckily. In primary, Mrs. Suelter was our teacher. After Primary, Matthew called & wanted me to come over later - then he hung up. About 8 he called again & told me to come over & took Careless. I won. We played Parcheesi too. Joyce --- Page 29 --- JANUARY 25 Wed Dear Diary - I didn't do much today. Last night after I had written my diary, I planned a birthday party. It's next I hope I can have it. After school I told Robin I'd come over, but mom made me iron, so I didn't go over there. Roxanne was mad. About 7 I called gym[?], & I talked to Jane. I walked & Spy & a movie & Guess Life. Joyce - 10:10 [?] --- Page 30 --- Mr. Hebarson room. Everybody says doing (was Mr [Mitchell?] feel great Ark JANUARY 26 10:30 p.m. Thurs Dear Diary, We got our report cards today. See back after school & went over to Marjean's. We got talking about skiing, & we decided to sell candy & other stuff & get some money me ski's & equipment. I can't wait till next winter. But, nobody believes I'll hit the skies. I'm bound too. Marjean is going to teach me. 6th & can't wait. I know I can do it. I skied [? unclear] new & took them around. I fell & & dumb when I went with --- Page 31 --- JANUARY 27 Dear Diary, After school I went over to Roy. At 6:30 about then, I went to Smith's, McN & Browns. I sta- -till about 10. I got .35 now I just have to pay the archery shop 25¢. We played 10-5 I lost - 5-5 to 5-1 - darn it any- way. Steven went to Stratford & got some tickets for skating. 3 more indians died today from an explosion in the capsule 11.74 to --- Page 32 --- to Wyo. & flying is wonderful & to morrow might, ade gear seems good - JANUARY 28th [scratched out text] sleeping with Janette Dear Diary, This morning it was just like spring. We went out & shot, it was fun. [crossed out text], Steve, Jan. & I. While we will shooting, Janice drove up. I went up & hugged her, & I asked her where her kids were. She slow down yesterday. Kathy was at Basketball practice when she left - I think Kathy would've come, but she wasn't home. Janice is going up [?] --- Page 33 --- Sun. JANUARY 29 Dear Diary, When we got up this morning, we ate then I went home. Mom put my watch on the sink & forgot. I brought it to me. Mom & Dad were still gone, so Vicki, Brenda & I made dinner - it was delishious. Really. I had to do the dishes. Vicki had to grease in 3rd word & I went with him & ran with Susan & a boy Vicki met at these come over. [John] Joyce - --- Page 34 --- Dear Gary, After school I stayed over to Kevin's [?] for was changing into her room upstairs downstairs I went to we moved him out to cleaned his room & our bathroom, including sink [?]. It looks brand neat. favourite smell mad at me. He couldn't play, so he went home. I didn't stay for his class I might think she's rude. I got all my scriptures said & No. 8 - That is, five paid 7. In school Mr. Black gave us these magazines which had 3 contests to enter. Writing, Essay, & Project. I'm going to enter at least writing. I hope more. Roxanne came over at night. Joy --- Page 36 --- Wed. FEBRUARY 1 1967 Dear Dear Diary, I got a letter from Kathy today. She said she's got some friends, but she'd rather have me- oh, I miss her so! Burtenshaws are going to Boise on the 10th & 11th. Maryann is going, & they're taking a girl to see Clarke, so they can't take me. This may sound stingy, but I don't think Maryann should see Kathy when I can't- Gee whiz! Maryann, Jon, Matt, Greg, Stann, & Kevin D. & I went skating. When we got home Mar ate with us- eggs --- Page 37 --- Thus. FEBRUARY 2 1967 Dear Diary, Last night I went to bed before the kids got home from the game. We won - 61-59! (Yaa'! Bees). After school I went over to Roseanne's. She got a new carpet (purple with black dots.) About 5:15, she come over here. I told Janette to call me as soon as she got home [because?] she never called me. We didn't get to go in in the morning, school or lunch. It was cold - [?], but at noon I took my coat off for a minute. Lovely [day?] --- Page 38 --- Friday FEBRUARY 3, 1967 Dear Diary, Tonight was the Budget Banquet. I sat next to the Bishop, and Karlene sat on the other side. We talked on both sides of him for Guy. (We left soon). (I don't blame him.) I asked Karlene to geels with me. She could. We walked home. We went to Lorraine's & saw her. [Not to say?] Mom was almost having a spaz, she thought we were gone, or something. Mrs pretended to be mad at me!! Oh - will! She makes me mad, too. Beautiful to [?] --- Page 39 --- FEBRUARY 4 Dear Mary, We got up this morning and shot bow. It was fun, but cold. We went in to play big a lady said, "There's a car!" "Meorwor across the street We went & Missy was up that big tree near by the wood, way up high. Steven climbed up high, then I got up & Steve handed me the cat, & I handed it to Vickie, & she to mom. I went to "Monkey Knule." It was real good. (So High!) --- Page 40 --- Last Sunday FEBRUARY 5 Dear Diary, John came over today. We ate with us. He came over about 2:30, & went about 5:30. & Roxanne went to Church with me today. Janette & Marie were in [Rexel?]. It really was a pretty dull day. Colleen & [Jen?] came over and we played [cards?] then walked down Disney, the [Parkside?] [Bonanji?], & [t?] [G?] [A?] movie [late?] real tired - It's 10:2 3:5 --- Page 41 --- Monday FEBRUARY 6 Dear Diary, I got a letter from Kathy & one from Ellen! I wrote 3 pages just this evening [?]. Marjan probably gets to go to Boise - boy, I sure hope she doesn't get to go. Aren't selfish? We addressed 25 envelopes for M. Black. Lin [pretty?] mad at Matt. I just decided [?] ignore him & pay more attention to other boys - It makes me mad how he ignores me. Joyce --- Page 42 --- **FEBRUARY 7** Dear Diary, Today was a pretty dull day. We played on the witches hat & the merry-go-round & I got sick! After lunch we went in & had Math, then we got to have P.E. I was surprised. I got the dishes done, & while I was hosing up the dishwasher, a big milk sours glass bowl fell off the dishwasher. Judy said, "Was it an accident?" I said, "No, I threw it! [unclear?] glass bowls on the floor just for fun all the time." PA came at 2:45. P got dressed in 5 min. P got an orange for my breakfast. After lunch we had art. All afternoon! We drew stick figures. It was fun. Marjean had to tend Brad all afternoon so she didn't draw. She is going to Boise for a while I'm tired. Joyce --- Page 44 --- FEBRUARY 9 Dear Diary, Maryan isn't going to Boise, because Dad is sick & their grandma won't let him. Maryan feels awful. I'm kind of glad & didn't feel like doing my work in school, so I brought it home. I'm not even ½ finished but that nice! I hope we don't have math tomorrow. I just hope, I know I'll forget my notebook! Maryan & I were the only ones in the class that got 100 in math! [Margin note: Hoyer] --- Page 45 --- FEBRUARY 10 Dear Diary, I'm sleeping with Ryan. It's $1.30. I'm tired & watched Good Neighbor Sam to - color. & they played Gin Rummy. Dozy & Morning Bridge. Sat. I'm tired - I'm sleepy we started on 55 projects. I'm doing a[lright?] I got half day rent on it - Matt left me off the bus, gave me sub. but wouldn't about Yorks girls, inches Jan. We just - ignore me Jeff! --- Page 46 --- FEBRUARY 11 The out. P came upstairs. The room was getting in good bed & clean. Looked over my checking for about 60 sleepy in TV. Here. Find, leg or foot ache. Allen strong. I'm so small! Mom had Steve & family over down to Allder. Sandy was in Rigby, & Eliska was in babysitting P was home alone. Larry went to Haunts. P wanted pretty to come over, but has her cousin, was busy, & P didn't think she wanted to go. Worth it has lots of called & said she had girl to the show. P went downstairs to go to bed & sandy broke up came for about [unclear?] 3:08 --- Page 47 --- Sunday FEBRUARY 12 Dear Diary, I went to Morning sleep out that was all new. Wizard of Oz was on. We were watching it. Steven came home & put his fingernails in my skin. When came in, he went out, & I just cried later. I was watching [Key?] & [unclear?] & Claude said to listen to $10. We had kind of an argument & I started crying a few min. then he said "I'm sorry, forgive me!" I said & I got up & left [unclear?]. --- Page 48 --- FEBRUARY 13 Dear Diary, In Math we had to do 5 rows, 20 problems in division. I got the first row done I hope we don't have Math tomorrow. We saw "Johnny Lingo". It was cool. Tonight Matthew called. Mary [Kelsey?] & I to go over. Mom said I had to sit Judy. They came over here! I made some salt clay & got it all on my word, as I see. I'm real tired now. I'm real tired Joyce Marie [unclear?] 10.35 [number/time at bottom] --- Page 49 --- FEBRUARY 14 Today was a real cool day. We made Valentines for mom & dad. After lunch we had our party. We listened to records & had donuts & a glass of punch. I spilled my punch all over myself. lap. Early I also spilled my painting water all over my lap. I felt like crying. Everyone was laughing - Duh! We got pink & cookies in pri. & I gave them 2 Oct to mom & dad. FEBRUARY 15 Today at recess Marian had to go home & that's bad because Karen had to go to work. On my Social Studies test I got 98 & 85. Oh well they were hard! Marian gave me her lunch when she left. (except for the good cookies, which she took out) Jeanne & Arlene got in a fite, really yesterday! though. Allen & I got more salty paper dollars to match her chain. Joyce Linda, Noel, Jane, Boller gave mom rose since Boyd has a cold present.
